A Tradition of Honor, A Celebration of Community

The Grand Marshal of the Chico Parade of Lights is one of the highest honors of this beloved holiday tradition. Each year, the title recognizes someone who embodies the spirit of generosity, kindness, and community that makes Chico such a special place.

Being named Grand Marshal is about more than leading the parade. It's about bringing people together, inspiring joy, and reminding us that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a big difference.

This year, we're putting a little extra magic into the tradition by welcoming someone whose generosity and holiday spirit are legendary. While our 2026 Grand Marshal may call the North Pole home, his message of giving, togetherness, and goodwill fits right in with the heart of Chico.

After all, the Parade of Lights is about more than twinkling lights and festive floats. It's about celebrating the community we love and keeping the magic of the season alive for generations to come.

North Pole Resident. Toy Industry Legend.

Professional Cookie Connoisseur.

With centuries of experience spreading holiday cheer, Santa Claus

is taking a little time away from his busy North Pole schedule to serve

as the Grand Marshal of the 2026 Chico Parade of Lights!

Known for his signature red suit, legendary beard, and impressive ability to visit millions of homes in a single night, Santa brings a level of holiday expertise that's simply unmatched.

When he's not supervising toy production, managing a team of highly skilled elves, or keeping eight (sometimes nine) reindeer in flying condition, Santa enjoys checking his list twice, sampling cookies, and reminding everyone that a little kindness goes a long way.

Santa is especially excited to visit Chico this year and help celebrate the return of a beloved holiday tradition. He's heard the community has been extra nice this year, and he's looking forward to seeing downtown filled with twinkling lights, smiling faces, and plenty of Christmas spirit.

And yes, he's already checked. Chico is on the Nice List.
