The Chico Parade of Lights thanks you for joining us at our annual Fall parade celebrating this year's theme, "Magical Adventures in Books!"
Winners announced! View the winners here >>
As we move from Summer into Fall, with the students returning to school and the farmers harvesting their crops, what better time to enjoy a night of family fun! This year we would like to invite you to join in celebrating "Magical Adventures in Books," and have fun by being a part of the parade of Lights on Sat, October 7, 2017 at 7:00 P.M.
We'll also have pre-parade events starting at 6pm near the downtown plaza: tricycle races, bed races, handcycle challenge and more!
The 28th annual parade theme this year is, “Magical Adventures in Books!” You may choose to highlight children's or young adult stories, classic literature, fantasy, science fiction, mystery, history, non-fiction, even recipe books. Or just do a general books theme (library? bookstore? Amazon?) --the options are endless! And of course, as many lights as possible!
Note: You definitely cannot use too many lights! Lights should be your #1 focus on you and your entry. Feel free to use music too! Make your entry entertaining for the spectators along the parade route. Some sources for battery operated lights are:
- www.christmaslightsetc.com/
- Amazon.com
There will not be a single judging stand; parade judges will be stationed at various points along the parade route. Entries must keep moving during the parade to prevent back-ups and uneven spacing of the entries along the parade route.
Come join the celebration – joining together as a community and enjoying the magic of a brilliant light parade!
